The Management

Jana Eggers, CEO

Spreadshirt_Vorstand_Jana.png Jana brings her passion for innovation and for the customer to her leadership of Spreadshirt's three business units - direct to customer shopping, shop partner platform and design competitions - serving different customers that together build a strong proposition for the emerging creative apparel market. She enjoys expressing herself every day by wearing Spreadshirts she has created.

Jana became Spreadshirt's global CEO in August 2007, having joined the fast-growing company in 2006 to expand the North American subsidiary and to help manage the global corporation. She commutes between Spreadshirt's Leipzig headquarters and North American corporation in Boston, MA, with occasional days in London, Paris, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Legnica, Poland.

Originally from Arkansas, Jana has a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and started her work life as a research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, but quickly turned to solving business problems. "Translating technology into business is my career," she says.

Jana came to Spreadshirt from Intuit where she founded the Corporate Innovation Lab and ran the company's fastest growing business unit, QuickBase - an online application platform. Prior to Inuit, Jana held executive and technical positions at American Airline's Sabre, Lycos and several start-ups.

Her work in innovation and leadership has been recognized with the Mass High Tech's (Journal of New England Technology) Woman to Watch Award in 2004, Intuit's CEO Excellence in Leadership Award in 2005 and the Hendrix College Odyssey Medal for Professional and Leadership Development in 2007. Jana has been featured in Business Week and Fortune magazines and is a frequently invited speaker at high-tech industry and educational events, including the forthcoming Net Promoter and eTail conferences in London.

Matthias Spiess, Founder & CTO

Spreadshirt_Vorstand_Matthias.png Matthias co-founded Spreadshirt, while running the most successful dot-bomb watch site in Germany. He was the major shop partner and saw a great opportunity to grow a successful business out of this model. Matthias offered to join forces with Lukasz on Spreadshirt, and then, financed the growth during Spreadshirt's first years, while Lukasz attended university.

Matthias' studies in philosophy and electro-technology at the University of Dresden and the University of Technology in Berlin, and his work experience for heavyweights like Siemens, as well as several internet and media related start-ups, prepared him well to balance the team.

Matthias led the platform definition and cleared the way for a new market - selling directly to customers. The ability for individuals to design one-off shirts without the need to set-up a shop, now makes up 40% of the business.
