Michael C. Place/Pritt/Midnight Juggernauts

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2008-08-21 at 14:11

The actual artwork isn’t anything too amazing, but the process is fun to watch for sure.

The song is “Into The Galaxy” by Midnight Juggernauts.

Random Game Day

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2008-08-20 at 09:00

This Game Day will be an easy one.

I want you to head over to ffffound and grab any image you want to and tell me why you love that specific image. It can be funny, clever, innovative, heartflet, whatever.

I’ll pick the best 3 in the next few days and award those 3 users enough BR (credit) to get themselves a free tee.

Example:

1

I picked this image because I’ve been enjoying quite a bit of contrast in my life lately, from my work, to married life, to the adjustment of moving to a new country. This rather sums up the last 6 months.

K-Swiss x Julia Hederus - Limited Edition Collection

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2008-08-19 at 10:30

Original article found at Freshness Mag

I personally want to get a pair of these when they come out and I figured a few of you out there would want to as well.

“A now graduate of the famed design school, Central Saint Martins, the Swedish-born Julia Hederus took from her fascination with architecture and toy building blocks LEGO into themes for her graduation presentation in the 2007 London Fashion Week.  During which she approached K-Swiss and created block-like footwear to coordinate with her collection. Almost immediately, the young designer garnered accolades from the fashion world for her innovation and simplistic approaches.  Building upon that success, Julia Hederus teamed up K-Swiss once again in producing a limited capsule collection.  Announced back in March of this year, the Julia Hederus for K-Swiss Collection exemplified boldness by both parties, the designer and the label.  Consists of 1 hi-top (High Blocks) and 2 low-top versions (Blocks & Cubes).  Each adorned with cube-like overlay and enclosure supported by Velcro fasteners, the Hederus x K-Swiss is a representation of classic lineage juxtaposed with futurist imagination of what sneaker would look like in the year 2020. This Europe-only release is only available currently at 12 retail locations throughout the continent, in addition to its exclusive online retailer, oki-ni. Priced from UK₤ 120 (~US$ 223) to UK₤ 80 (~US$ 148)”

laFraise vs. crowdSPRING summary

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2008-08-18 at 04:06

There seems to be some confusion with the newest contest for crowdSPRING.

Here are the details to help clear things up.

What? laFraise tshirt design contest with crowdSPRING. The contest will be hosted here on laFraise. The theme is “creativity“.

When? Submissions open August 18th and finish September 1st.

Win? 3 winners will be selected. Each will receive 1500 Euros and a new iPod Nano Colour.

It’s truly that simple.

Have fun and good luck!

laFraise vs. crowdSPRING Contest August 18th

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2008-08-15 at 19:58

What is the project?

laFraise has teamed up with our new friends from Chicago -  crowdSPRING! And we’re throwing down the gauntlet to see who can give us the best design around the them of: “Creativity is _______”.  So what does creativity mean to you?

You can show us with typography, illustration, design - just show us (and show us real good)!  Your design can be abstract or you can choose something concrete that represents creativity for you.  We just want to see what creativity means to you, so have at it.  Does creativity mean color and complexity or does creativity mean taming the chaos?  Does creativity mean extravagant and ornate or does creativity mean simple and classic.  Show us your answer and you’ll be rewarded handsomely!

Who is crowdSPRING?

Simply put, crowdSPRING is a creative marketplace.  They bring together buyers and designers from around the world to work on all sorts of creative projects - from logos and illustrations to websites and marketing materials.

How does it work?  Well, it’s a kinda like laFraise, really - buyers post projects for things they need designed along with how much they’ll pay.  Once posted, creatives from around the world can choose from among the projects (there’s over 50 live on the site right now) and decide which ones they’d like to work on.  At that point, you submit your ideas for that project and, if your design is chosen, you take home the award.  All the buyers pay up front so there’s no worries about deadbeat buyers or abandoned projects, and every single project is protected by a customized legal agreement so there’s never any worry about intellectual property theft.  It’s that simple.

What’s in it for me?

Not only will the top 3 entries receive a laFraise prize of 1500 Euros each, but we’re also putting up three iPod Nanos that will be awarded to the top 3 entries.  Keep in mind though that the project is only going to run from August 18th to September 1st, so quit reading and get going!!!

10 Reason You Should Never Get A Job

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2008-08-13 at 08:47

icant

I figured this would appeal to you freelancers out there, 10-reasons-you-should-never-get-a-job and possibly serve as a wakeup call for others.

There are a few points I don’t necessarily agree with, and I don’t agree with the approach, but the general principal is still there.

Definetly worth a quick read. Makes you rethink a few things.

Ffffound time!
