The templates only saves product types and product colors. I still have to click on each and every product to change the design colors.
Templates do not save vector design colors as also specified here und Vector Graphics: https://help.spreadshirt.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008958033-Faster-Product-Creation-with-Templates
Templates will eventually get more funcitonalities but this will take some more time.
